Resolution calling for the holding of a General Municipal Election on November 6,
2018 for the election of three municipal officers and any measures submitted by the
City Council to the voters as required by the City's Charter and the laws of the State
of California;
2. Resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo to
Consolidate a General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018,
with the Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election; requesting the
County of San Mateo to render specified services to City; and authorizing the City
Clerk to execute a contract with the County for such services;
3. Resolution adopting regulations for candidates for elective office pertaining to
statements submitted to the voters at an election to be held on Tuesday, November
6, 2018; and
4. By motion, require candidates to make a deposit in an amount to be determined by
the County Elections Office to cover estimated candidate statement printing and
translation costs

BACKGROUND
City law requires that the General Municipal Elections be held on November 6 of this
year for the election to office of three City Council members. The California Elections
Code provides for the consolidation of local elections, ordered by one of the jurisdictions
calling an election on the same date in the same or overlapping territory. The City of
Redwood City has consolidated previous elections with accurate, efficient and cost-
effective results and it is recommended that the City Council order consolidation for the
November 6, 2018 General Municipal Election.

6.3.E. - Page 1
