In fact, 79% of extremely low income renter households have at least one severe housing problem. In contrast, only about 58% of the extremely low income owner households have a severe housing problem -- but, in absolute numerical terms, this translates to only 575 households, whereas the extremely low income households with one or more severe housing problems total 2,655. In general, the higher the income, the fewer the housing problems. Further, renters experience greater severe housing problems than do owners. 3.
