Methodology for Aperture Cards Scanning Preparation of Aperture Cards for Scanning Raycom will prepare the aperture cards by cleaning the sheets with a micro fiber cloth to remove any objects or smudges that obscure the quality of the scanned microfiche frames during the scanning process. The production log will be created that will detail: the number of items prepared, any scratches on the film, documents or areas of the aperture card that could cause problems during scanning, and any other items of significance that need to be notated. Raycom will notify the City immediately if any missing aperture cards sequence. Scanning of Aperture Cards Quantity Make and Model of Raycom Aperture Cards Scanner (2) Wicks & Wilson Scan station FS300 Spec: 100 dpi to 400 dpi @ 24X, 100 dpi to 400 dpi (7 x 14 fiche) 140 Frames per minute. @ 48X 100 to 300 dpi (15 x 18 Com fiche) 178 frames per minute. Full fiche imaging process and gray scale Output. Utilizing RDIS Document Imaging Software & OCR Capture utility. Raycom scanning operator(s) will set the required settings using the above mentioned scanner at minimum 300 to 600 dpi , Black border removal, DE speckle, DE skew, black & white (Bi-tonal) and/or greyscale, and multiage or single page PDF to the City specifications. Settings will be applied to split between changes into a new multipage file during the scanning. The aperture cards will be scanned in the order that they appear in the document, and in the same order provided. If required the images will be rotated for readability and blank pages will be removed. A header page will be inserted at the beginning of a record if there are poor quality images contained in the file. If a record has no pages, a disclaimer stating thus will be inserted. A log with a list of Batches for verification of the number of images, image quality and identification file names will be created . Each batch will consist of an average of 500 images on a continuous scanning process. The number of images scanned will be verified against the number of items prepared for scanning . Indexing the Aperture Cards Raycom Index operator will record on the index log sheet how many images are indexed and how many indexes are created .
