10.A. - Page 4 <br />The proposed amendments include revisions throughout the Charter to modernize the <br />language of the Charter by replacing gendered language with neutral language, <br />standardizing capitalization and making other conforming, non -substantive edits. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. Do not adopt the attached resolution submitting to the voters the proposed <br />Charter amendments; <br />2. Make other changes to the proposed resolution and Charter amendments. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The cost of placing the Charter amendments on the ballot is estimated at $30,000. The <br />cost is included in the FY 2018-19 General Fund operating budget. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />In accordance with CEQA Guidelines Sec. 15378(b)(4), submission of the Charter <br />amendments to the voters is categorically exempt from CEQA because it involves the <br />creation of a government administrative mechanism which does not involve any <br />commitment to any specific project. <br />VERONICA RAMIREZ <br />CITY ATTORNEY <br />MELISSA STEVENSON DIAZ <br />CITY MANAGER <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
