Carmel Historical Study
Dear Redwood City,
I do not support further restriction of planning and building rules in the Mt. Carmel neighborhood. The more
restrictions put in place, make it harder to build and improve property. The more restrictions put in place to
preserve old property also make the buildings use more outdated and less appropriate for today's uses. Today,
we have a housing crisis. Redwood City has done a fantastic job with the Downtown area in the last 10 years.
However, rents are still increasing in Redwood City and more housing must be built so that rents on existing
units do not continue to increase. I support any measure or study that looks at solving Redwood City's housing
crisis - Now, 10 years into the future and 20 years into the future. Looking into further restricting building in
this neighborhood will diminish property value, make existing property less relevant and diminish property
value.
Sincerely,
Kevin Guibara
