This failure would have a major impaèt to the entire Redwood Shores
neighborhood, as it would require draining the lagoon and rebuilding the perimeter.

City staff is in the process of assessing the situation and developing a policy to
address the planning, engineering, and building code issues involved, and will involve
the Redwood Shores Owners Association and the Redwood Shores Community
Association in this process. In the interest of protecting the edge of the lagoon and
maintaining your property values, the City will not approve any construction work on the
edge of the lagoon while we make this determination, I anticipate that this process will
take approximately 3-to-6 months to complete.

In short, any proposed modifications, including retaining walls, rear yard decks, fill,
boat docks, etc" will not be approved, and of course any unauthorized construction is
not permitted. Please understand that this action is necessary at this time in order to
maintain the integrity of the edge of the lagoon for both today and for the long term.

Should you have any questions regarding this or other planning issue please feel
free to contact me at (650) 780-7234.

\~nc."'Y'
., H .... -.
0"...
