<br />ATTY/CHARTER AMENDMENTS/2018/2018 FINAL CHARTER AMENDMENTS <br />REV: 07-18-18 VR <br />Page 40 of 45 <br />Section 85. OLD ORDINANCES IN EFFECT: <br /> <br />Except ordinances and resolutions adopted prior to July 1, 1897, which ordinances and <br />resolutions are hereby declared to be no longer effective, all ordinances and resolutions in force <br />at the time this cCharter takes effect, and not inconsistent therewith, shall continue in full force <br />until amended or repealed. (As amended April 13, 1954, ratified by Legislature January 13, 1955, <br />Stats. 1955, Chapter 27.) <br /> <br />Section 86. CONTINUING OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES: <br /> <br />Except as otherwise provided herein, the term of all elective officers and of all appointive officers <br />elected or appointed under the form of government preceding this Charter shall terminate upon <br />the ratification of this Charter by the Legislature of this State; the incumbents of such offices shall <br />thereafter hold their respective offices until removed therefrom by the Council or the <br />Commission, Board, or Officer to whom the power of removal of such officer is hereby committed. <br />All deputies, police officers, fire personnel men and other employees of the cCity at the time of <br />this Charter becoming effective shall continue in their respective offices or positions of <br />employment, subject to removal and the control thereof by the cCity mManager as herein <br />provided. <br /> <br />Section 87. CONTINUANCE OF CONTRACTS: <br /> <br />All vested rights of the cCity shall continue and shall not in any manner be affected by the <br />adoption of this Charter, nor shall any right, liability, pending suit or prosecution, either in behalf <br />of or against the cCity, be affected by the adoption of this Charter, unless herein expressly <br />provided. All contracts entered into by the cCity or for its benefit prior to the taking effect of this <br />Charter shall continue in full force and effect. All public work begun prior to the taking effect of <br />this Charter shall be continued and perfected hereunder. Public improvements for which <br />legislative steps shall have been taken under laws in force at the time this Charter takes effect may <br />be carried to completion in accordance with the provisions of such laws. <br /> <br />Section 88. CLAIMS AGAINST CITY: <br /> <br />(As amended April 13, 1954; ratified by Legislature January 13, 1955, Stats. 1955, Chapter 27; as <br />amended November 4, 2003, certified by Secretary of State March 5, 2004 – section deleted.) <br /> <br />Section 89. OFFICIAL SEAL: <br /> <br />The official seal of the cCity prescribed therefor under the form of government preceding this <br />Charter shall continue to be the official seal of the cCity hereunder; provided that the word <br />"Town" in said seal shall be changed to "City." <br /> <br />Section 90. OFFICIAL ADVERTISING: <br /> <br />(Amended November 4, 2003, certified by Secretary of State March 5, 2004 – section deleted.)
