AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE MEMOPRANDUIM OF <br />UNDERSTANDING <br />BETWEEN THE BAY AREA WATER SUPPLY AND CONSERVATION <br />AGENCY AND CALIFORNIA WATER SERVICE COMPANY AND SAN <br />FRANCISCO PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION AND SILICON <br />VALLEY CLEAN WATER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE POTABLE <br />REUSE EXPLORATORY PLAN (PREP) <br />WHEREAS, the Parties entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for <br />preparation of a Potable Reuse Exploratory Plan (PREP) on November 3, 2016; and <br />WHEREAS, the scope of work as described in Section 5 of the MOU (PREP Phase I <br />study) is complete; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Mateo and the City of Redwood City expressed interest in <br />studying potable reuse opportunities in the region and became participants in the PREP Phase 1 <br />study during 2017; and <br />WHEREAS, each Party to this MOU has a clear objective in pursuing PREP at this time, <br />as follows: <br />Silicon Valley Clean Water and City of San Mateo (Wastewater Agencies): To support <br />local, regional, and State goals for recycled water use and promote the development of recycled <br />water supplies to provide maximum benefit to our service areas. <br />Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency: To identify a potential new water <br />supply to meet the dry -year water supply reliability needs of its member agencies, as <br />documented in BAW SCA's Long -Term Reliable Water Supply Strategy Phase 11 Final Report. <br />California Water Service Company: To identify potential new local water supply <br />opportunities and capital projects that will provide supply reliability to our Bay Area Peninsula <br />customers. <br />City of Redwood City: To identify potential new water supplies, and enhance the quality <br />of recycled water to promote beneficial uses. <br />San Francisco Public Utilities Commission: To identify potential new water supply <br />opportunities to serve existing and new customer demands, including the Cities of San Jose and <br />Santa Clara. <br />WHEREAS, Parties wish to amend the MOU to expand the scope of work of the PREP to <br />include a Phase 2 study; add the City of San Mateo and the City of Redwood City as Parties to <br />the MOU; increase budget; and modify schedule as described below. <br />Page 1 of 19 <br />REV: 03-21.18 MI <br />ATTY/AGR.Amend No. 1/Potable Reuse Exploratory Plan MOU <br />
