I Sounds like some Mitch McConnell shenanigans to me. 2 council is entitled to wait if they wish, but certainly not obligated to. 1 - Fill the vacancy as soon as a qualified candidate is available. If I'm not mistaken the council just filled the other open commission vacancies - how is this any different? It's the current council's duty to fill these vacancies. This is not really worth discussing. 1 The council is currently in session and they should do the duty of appointing someone for the vacancy. 1 nope!! We need someone that knows the word NO when it comes to getting rid of our small businesses and our small town feel. For more high price apartments, empty businesses and cafeteria bright light restaurants! 2. 1 think a lot of residents would like to see a lot of changes in the way our developments are handled. Please let the voters weigh in first. 1 need representation now for commission to function effectively 1 - The city council has a duty they should do their duty in a timely manner. This city used to be called Deadwood city. The development in Redwood City has spurred new life, improved safety, and created an economic vibrancy. Let's make it easier to develop responsibly. Let's change zoning to allow higher density on single family residential sites that means reducing set backs, increasing height limits and allowing multiple families per site. It will not only spur responsible growth, but it will also provide more housing. Increased supply will help fulfill demand and lower costs. Allowing 2-4 condos on a single family home site will also increase the property tax revenue and assist in the cities revenue shortage. 2. Fill the seat. I am sick of all this development. So many people and then they say we need to tax more. Really. Assign and we can either vote for or against the council member when their time is up for election. It will not stop. San Carlos and Menlo have people living besides the track. How awful is that for the thousands of dollars they are or will pay. Makes no sense. 1 Don't make this POLITICAL and wait; pick a highly qualified candidate and do it soon.DO YOUR JOB and make the appointment (as long as there are highly qualified candidates).
