<br />78 <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />and the Redevelopment Agency Board from <br />the Cit Mana er and Executive Director <br /> <br />March 13, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Amendment No.1 to the Agreement with DPR Construction, Inc. for providing <br />Construction ManagemenUGeneral Contractor (CM/GC) Services for Phase II of the <br />Historic Courthouse Reconstruction, Courthouse Square <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />1. Approve Amendment No.1 to the Agreement with DPR Construction, Inc. for <br />providing CM/GC Services for Phase II of the Historic Courthouse Reconstruction, <br />Courthouse Square, for an additional $5,410,291.00, which includes the Final <br />Agreed Price (F AP) of $5,210,291.00 for the construction of Courthouse Square <br />(Phase II) and $200,000 to construct a new downtown restroom facility. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Adopt a Resolution approving a budget amendment of $1,000,000.00 from the <br />Capital Project Fund to cover the deficit in the Courthouse Square project's <br />budget. <br /> <br />Background <br />On March 14, 2005, the City Council approved the Agreement with DPR Construction, <br />Inc. for At-Risk Construction Management Services/General Contractor Services during <br />Construction of the Historic Courthouse Reconstruction for a FAP of $4,955,057.00. <br /> <br />DPR Construction, Inc., a Redwood City-based company, was chosen by a review <br />panel through formal interviews, based on their qualifications and experience working <br />on similar historic reconstruction projects throughout the Bay Area. They have <br />extensive experience in the reconstruction of historical buildings, and proved to be the <br />most qualified to complete the job. DPR has worked with City staff and Freedman Tung <br />& Bottomley (Urban Design Team) during the design stage, and are aware of the <br />design details and quality of construction expected. <br /> <br />As mentioned in the March 14, 2005 staff report, Phase II - The Courthouse Square <br />could not be bid until complete plans and specifications were submitted by the Urban <br />Design Team of Freedman, Tung & Bottomley (FTB). On February 13, 2006, FTB <br />submitted their plans for bidding. <br /> <br />The combined project of the Historic Courthouse Reconstruction (Phase I) and the <br />Courthouse Square (Phase II) is a major part of the City's Downtown Revitalization, <br />along with the Cinema Project scheduled for completion in May 2006.
