6.1.G. - Page 1 <br />REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />September 10, 2018 <br />SUBJECT <br />General Services Agreement with Lockworks Unlimited, Inc. for Access Control System <br />Management and On-call Locksmith Services for the City of Redwood City <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a two-year General <br />Services Agreement with Lockworks Unlimited, Inc. for Galaxy Access Control System <br />Management, Schlage Quad Primus Master Key System Management and on-call lock, <br />door hardware and locksmith services for the City of Redwood City in an amount not to <br />exceed $90,000, and authorize the City Manager to extend the agreement for two <br />additional two-year terms, for a total amount not to exceed $270,000 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Public Works Services Department (PWS) is responsible for maintaining and <br />managing access control to City buildings and sites through the: <br />• Use of a computerized access system, physical keys and locks; <br />• Repair of locks and door hardware; and <br />• Use of locksmith services on an as -needed basis. <br />The City of Redwood City currently has a computerized Galaxy Access Control System <br />(Galaxy System) installed in fifteen City -owned buildings/sites. The Galaxy System <br />controls individual authorized access to buildings and sites through the use of <br />programmed identification badges, key fobs and/or vehicle transponders. The Galaxy <br />System also enables the City to program building, individual room and automatic gate <br />opening and closing times to accommodate regular, holiday, special event and annual <br />time -change schedules. Purchase and ongoing management of the Galaxy System <br />may only be performed by an Authorized Dealer registered through Galaxy Control <br />Systems of Walkersville, Maryland. <br />
