6.1.H. - Page 2
and Verde Design, Inc. was the only qualified firm to submit a proposal. Staff believes
that the fast -paced schedule was the reason that only one proposal was received.
Verde Design, Inc. and their team have significant experience with park and athletic
facility planning and design. The firm and their sub -consultant team also have extensive
experience in the public outreach and construction mitigation process which will be
crucial for the success of this project. The subject contract has a not to exceed amount
of $61,460.00, and approval of the staff recommendation would allow the total amount
to increase up to 10% if necessary and with City Manager approval. The City Manager
would then be authorized to execute an amendment to the agreement to implement the
increase and corresponding changes in the scope of services.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to approve the design services agreement with Verde Design
Inc., and direct staff to reissue another RFP.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is provided in the Adopted FY 2018-2019 Capital Improvement Program
budget.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This action is not a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality
Act because the activity involves the retention of a consultant to create potential plans
which does not create a commitment to a specific project which may result in a direct
physical change in the environment nor a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical
change in the environment. (Public Resource Code § 21065; Guidelines § 15378)
JAMES O'CONNELL, PE
SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER
AARON AKNIN, AICP
ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
