The City provides a Recreation Coordinator on site at each school,
directing activities and staff, working directly with the school administration and teachers,
and advancing the well-being of the children being served.

John Gill School was recently awarded with a State Healthy Kids Grant to help increase
health and wellness enrichment activities on that campus. The grant will enable the
increase in Recreation Coordinator hours from 30 to 40 each week. The extra ten hours of
time will be used to develop and coordinate nutrition, health and fitness activities for the
children being served in the after-school programs. Additionally, the Recreation
Coordinator will be directed to work with parent volunteers to develop new after-school
opportunities for children currently not enrolled in a program.

Fiscal Impact
Funding for the program is provided by the Healthy Kids Grant through John Gill School and
the Redwood City School District.

se not to enter into this agreement.

G-~

Corinne Centeno
Director

¿ç,~1-

Ed ar Everett
City Manager

Attachment:
Agreement

...... - _.- ._,-
