-6.1.D. - Page 1
KtruRT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
September 24, 2018
SUBJECT
Approval of Amendment No. 2 to Agreement with CSG Consultants, Inc. for Engineering
Inspection Services
RECOMMENDATION
By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 2 to
Agreement for Professional Services with CSG Consultants, Inc. for engineering
inspection services in the amount of $98,800 for a total not to exceed amount of
$327,600
BACKGROUND
The Engineering Division has full time staff positions available for two engineering
construction inspectors. These inspectors regularly inspect the City's capital
improvement projects and utility permit projects performed by private utility companies.
At this time, one position is filled, and the other was filled with a contract position for a
period of one year in September. Due to the high volume of capital improvement
projects under construction, there has been an additional need for construction
inspection during the time that the second position was vacant, and a contract for
construction inspection services was created to fill this gap while recruitment filled the
position. With the current projects underway, and ongoing through the end of the year,
continued support of a third inspector will also been needed, and the amendment to this
contract will provide that support.
On December 13, 2017, the RFP for Construction Inspection Services was circulated to
the eight firms on the Engineering & Transportation Division's pre -qualified consultant
list for this type of work. On Friday, January 5, 2018, five proposals were received.
After review of the proposals and interviews with two firms selected to move forward in
the process, staff selected CSG Consultants, Inc. as the most qualified firm to provide
construction inspection services.
