Ampco System Þarking is a renowned national firm with
extensive ,experience in working with' municipalities and private
developers to makecørtain that such critical undertakings are
conducted professionàlly, efficiently and with an $ye toward ensuring
that the parking public receives the best possible parking experience.

The automated approach taken by the City is to be lauded: Staffing
and related costs always represent the highest percentage of on..going
operating costs at parking facilitiØs. But 'automated' does not me~m
'unattended'. A certain Jevel of staffing is required at any paid, public
parking facility to provide a number of functions:

. Customer Service
. AccQuntingand banking functi()ns
. Daily ,servicing/maintenance of automated equipment
. Site security ,
. Cleanliness and upkeep

The number one item listed above is ona of the most important:
Customer Service. Forthø public to embrace and enthusiastically
utîlize these automated parking facilities, they have to be confident that
when they have q~stions, concems or problems, there is someone
available to assist them, in real time.

For this reason, we propose to provide a minimum of (1) employee on-
site during all operating hours. And rather than just providing 'bodies',
these critical personnel assigned to manage and oversee the smooth
daily operation of the Redwood City parking facilities will be (for the
most part) supervi$òry-Ievel personnel. Our employees will be
expected to fully-understandalJ aspects of how .tJ1$ three facilities
operate. and be authorized to act, without the need to call off-site
personnel (either Ampco or the City) to ensure that they run $moothly.

Ampco System Parking
Page 5
