Raymond Swope, Judge of the Superior Court <br />clo Charlene Kresevich <br />Hall of Justice <br />400 County Center, 2nd Floor <br />Redwood City, CA 94063-1655 <br />600 ELM STREET <br />SAN CARLOS, CA 94070 <br />(650) 802-4219 <br />C ITYOFSANCAR LOS.ORG <br />RE: San Mateo County Grand Jury Report "Smoke -Free Multiunit Housing: No Ifs, <br />Ands, Or Butts" Response <br />Dear Judge Swope: <br />In reply to your request for responses to the above referenced report, the City of San Carlos <br />hereby submits this letter, which was approved by the City Council at the September 10, <br />2018 Council meeting. <br />Findings. <br />The City of San Carlos reviewed all eight of the Findings in the Grand Jury report. Since the <br />Findings are based on research conducted by the Grand Jury of San Mateo County of San <br />Mateo County agencies, we did not independently confirm the Findings. However, to respond <br />to your request that we agree with the Findings, we hereby agree with each Finding. <br />Recommendations. <br />The City of San Carlos was asked to respond to one action, which is Recommendation 7 — <br />to hold a public hearing by December 31, 2018 to evaluate issues and hear residents' views <br />on restricting smoking in multiunit housing in ourjurisdiction. The recommendation has not <br />yet been implemented, but will be implemented at a City Council meeting before the end of <br />the year. Currently, the item is scheduled for the Council meeting on October 22, 2018.' <br />The City of San Larios appreciates the opportunity to comment on the Grand Jury report. <br />Best Regards, <br />Bob Grassilli, Mayor <br />
