7.A. - Page 4 <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The City Council may choose not to award the construction contract and direct staff to <br />redesign and/or rebid this project. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Funds for the Whipple Avenue and Iris Street Enhanced Crossing Project will come <br />from the Capital Outlay Fund — Pedestrian Enhancements Project ($100,000 balance), <br />Traffic Mitigation Fees Fund — Pedestrian Crosswalk Warning Lights Program <br />($279,305 balance), and miscellaneous remaining amounts in completed projects in the <br />Gas Tax Construction Fund. <br />The total encumbered budget for the project will be $140,278.23 which covers a <br />potential 10% increase in project cost, should it be needed. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW <br />As the lead agency, City of Redwood City has determined that the Whipple Avenue and <br />Iris Street Enhanced Crossing Project meets the CEQA exemption criteria as set forth in <br />CEQA Guidelines Section 15301, (Existing Facilities) and Section 15302, (Replacement <br />or Reconstruction) in that it involves the minor alteration of existing streets with <br />negligible or no expansion of use.
