7.A. - Page 3 <br />Consistent with the City's complete streets goals, this project will increase pedestrian <br />safety via the following improvements: <br />• Corner extensions/bulb-outs at intersection to shorten the crossing distance <br />and therefore decrease the amount of time a person walking across the street <br />will be exposed to moving traffic. <br />• Installation of a Rectangular Rapid Flash Beacon (RRFB) system, to alert <br />drivers to pedestrians crossing. <br />• Enhanced pavement markings and signage to improve visibility of the <br />crossing. <br />• Installation of bioretention areas to address storm drainage concerns in a <br />sustainable manner. <br />• Installation of accessible curb ramps to improve the access for people with <br />limited mobility or families with strollers. <br />• Removal of the existing marked pedestrian crossing at Woodstock <br />The Engineer's Probable Cost Estimate of this project is in the range of $110,000 - <br />$135,000 (revised from $90,000 - $120,000 based on addendum #2). The City received <br />six bids on August 22, 2018, as listed below: <br />The total bid of $127,525.66 from Golden Bay Construction, Inc. is within the range of <br />the engineer's estimate of $110,000 - $135,000.
