FACTS: <br />2010 - Several neighbors petitioned to have pedestrian crosswalks installed on Whipple Ave. <br />2011- After several meetings/emails with City staff, engineers, and residents on potential locations for visibility and safety, <br />two crosswalks were installed, one at Woodstock Place the other at King St. To date, there have been no accidents or <br />injuries at the Woodstock crosswalk. <br />2015 - Community meetings were held to discuss the utility of the crosswalks. The majority of residents were satisfied with <br />the current location at Woodstock, and the only recommendation. There was one loud dissenting neighbor; but the <br />majority appeared to rule out this individual. <br />2016 - The property owner at 1835 Whipple on one side of the crosswalk (the dissenter) pulled a permit to relocate his <br />driveway approach to accommodate his 2nd ADU on said property. The City approved the sidewalk permit, with the <br />knowledge there was an existing crosswalk ramp approach. <br />2017 - City Staff commissioned a study by a 3rd party to move the crosswalk. The surrounding neighbors were not made <br />aware of this study until October 2018. This is perplexing and a questionable use of tax payer funds on a issue that was <br />deemed to be closed. <br />2018 - Residents received a letter 10 days prior to this Public Hearing about the proposed crosswalk relocation. No <br />drawings were provided, nor was it disclosed that certain residents would lose most of their street parking. How is it that <br />the Council is set to award a contract for this project tonight without having heard the public? <br />
