The design for the 24-inch pipeline in Redwood Shores Parkway between
Shoreline Drive and Twin Dolphin Drive (approximately 1,900 If) was included
in the previous Project and so is not included here. However, it will be
incorporated into the Bid Package 4 drawings.

. Two branch pipelines totaling approximately 500 If in Bid Package 4, and five
branch pipelines (Hinman, Pacific Shores and Beeger) totaling approximately
3,000 If in Bid Package 5. An additional 4,000 If of branch pipeline have been
included in the budget to cover a potential looped branch pipeline along Herkner in
Bid Package 5. The branch pipelines are all expected to be 8-inch diameter and
will connect to the12-inch and 24-inch pipelines.

. Approximately 5 service laterals in Bid Package 4 and approximately 15 laterals in
Bid Package 5, ranging in size from 1-inch to 8-inch diameter. The laterals will
extend from the new recycled water pipelines to each eligible customer site.
These laterals do not include schools, parks, or the library. The City intends on
constructing underground distribution pipelines and laterals at the same time, so
the roadways can be resurfaced in a manner that will provide the least public
inconvenience and best final appearance. This process will eliminate, to the extent
possible, the need to re-enter streets for pipeline construction in the future.

General Assumptions

The overall approach to this work builds upon the previous design for Bid Packages 1 to 3
and subsequent scoping discussions between City staff and Consultant. The underlying
general assumptions used to prepare this proposal are summarized as follows.
Exceptions are noted in the following section of this exhibit. The work will be performed
on a time and materials basis - as requested - and not to exceed the compensation limit.

Limits of Scope

1. This proposal is for Bid Packages 4 and 5 pipelines only. Subsequent proposals
for the remaining Bid Packages will be provided upon request from the City.

2. The design services will be performed over an 8-month period, with bidding
support services extending another 2 months.

3. Any new easements or license agreements which are required for this Project,
including those from the City of San Carlos, will be obtained by Kennedy/Jenks on
behalf of the City. The City will pay all permit fees.

4. Service laterals will be designed to the customer site and will include piping into
new meter boxes at the property line. Determination of the lateral size and
location will be provided under the customer site retrofit contract work and will be
coordinated with this Project. No improvements on customer sites are included in
this Project.

2

sllibrary/agreements/consultants/consultant_kennedyjenks_Exhibit A_BP 4 & 5
