6.B. - Page 179 of 366 <br />engaged <br />in a <br />gaipfuleeeiipatien1. the than Citysen,iee) eithez as an <br />efapioyeei <br />of <br />nen <br />— — –9.1:5 In the event an employee has accumulated the maximum sick leave <br />credits of one -thousand two -hundred (1200) hours and the employee <br />becomes so severely ill that he or she exhausts his or her sick leave, the <br />Personnel Officer may, upon written recommendation of the employee's <br />department head, authorize additional sick leave to include any sick <br />leave in excess of the one -thousand two -hundred (1200) hours maximum <br />which may have been lost due to the maximum limitation: provided, <br />however, that sick leave credits were not accumulated for a period of six <br />(6) months or longer. <br />9.1.65 An employee may elect to receive compensation in lieu of sick leave <br />credits for any calendar year (based on the preceding 26 pay periods) by <br />requesting payment of unused sick leave in writing to the Director of <br />Finance on or before December 1 of the prior year. Payment shall be <br />made at twenty-five percent (25%) of the value of the unused sick leave <br />(50% when no more than 12.5 hours of sick leave have been used) for <br />the preceding 26 pay periods. <br />The City will endeavor to make payment on the non -payroll Friday <br />immediately following the first payroll Friday in January; however, the <br />payment will be made no later than the first pay period in February and <br />shall be paid using the salary in effect December 31. There shall be no <br />payment in lieu of accumulated sick leave benefits for years prior to <br />such calendar year. <br />Accumulated sick leave credits shall be reduced by the value of the sick <br />leave compensated as provided in the above paragraph and the <br />remaining balance shall be accumulated to a maximum of one -thousand <br />two -hundred (12 00) hours in accordance with Section 9.1.1. <br />9.1.76 if a unit .,.,,.,.bef tefmi ft+e�Upon separation from City service for <br />reasons other than death, retirement or disciplinar-discharge, <br />compensation in lieu of unused, accrued sick leave shall be paid in <br />aeeer-danee with the term the amount provided in Section 9.1.5 for an <br />employee who may elects to receive compensation in lieu of sick leave <br />credits, prorated to the date of termination of service. <br />9.1.87 Unit members with twenty (20) years of service with the City, who retire <br />from City employment with benefits from PERS, shall be eligible to <br />receive compensation for fifty percent (50%) of accrued unused sick <br />leave. <br />i� <br />
