6.C. - Page 1 of 7 <br />/<;i-ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />rounded 1967 <br />*A/ <br />DATE: November 5, 2018 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />SUBJECT Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Leslie Parks for Economic Development Services <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to Execute Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement <br />between the City of Redwood City (City) and Leslie Parks, an Economic Development Consultant, dated <br />June 11, 2018. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Economic Development <br />BACKGROUND <br />In June 2018, the City entered into a professional services agreement with Leslie Parks, an economic <br />development consultant, to provide the City with general economic development strategy assistance. The <br />City hired Ms. Parks on an interim basis to assist with continuing economic development initiatives during <br />the absence of economic development division staff. Ms. Parks has assisted the City on projects of this <br />nature before in 2007 when she drafted the economic development strategy for the City and again in <br />2016 as the interim Economic Development Manager. Ms. Parks has strong institutional knowledge along <br />with over 23 years of experience providing economic development consulting services to other <br />municipalities including Burlingame, Half Moon Bay, Millbrae, Mountain View, San Carlos, San Francisco <br />and San Jose.. Ms. Parks has served the County of San Mateo as interim director of the workforce <br />development program and was formerly the director of economic development for the City of San Jose <br />from 1995 to 2001. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The City has been pleased with Ms. Parks' work and wishes to continue contracting with her to provide <br />specialized staff assistance in strategic oversight of the City's economic development efforts, which <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcitV.org <br />386 <br />
