6.D. - Page 4 of 70 <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1. The City Council may elect not to approve the purchase of the 125 Taser Conducted Energy <br />Weapons. The less -lethal weapon options of the Police Department would be adversely <br />impacted because the Department's current inventory of Conducted Energy Weapons have <br />exceeded their five-year service life and need to be replaced. <br />2. Council may direct staff to conduct a separate competitive bid process to purchase the 125 Taser <br />Conducted Energy Weapons. Conducting a separate competitive bid process would likely not <br />result in any cost savings because the Public Procurement Authority's process included the same <br />criteria and requirements that a Redwood City competitive bid requires but has the benefit of <br />volume pricing. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />1.
