6.13. - Page 56 of 366 <br />employee's services are not satisfactory, the Fire Chief shall file a written statement <br />rejecting the probationer, eF Feq ,shin„ an extnnninn as den iped in SeE3tion 8.3. <br />8.5 Rejection of Probationer <br />During the probationary period an employee may be rejected by the Fire Chief and <br />terminated by the appointing authority without the right of review of any kind. Any employee <br />rejected during the probationary period following promotion shall be reinstated to the <br />position from which he or she was promoted, unless disciplinary charges are filed and he or <br />she is duly discharged. <br />ARTICLE 9 <br />PROMOTION <br />9.1 Examination <br />In the event the City desires to fill a vacancy by promotion, the Personnel Officer shall <br />prepare and administer an examination for those employees holding similar positions in <br />lower classes. <br />Promotional examinations scheduled by the City during an employee's regular working <br />hours may be taken without any loss in compensation. <br />9.2 Eligibility List <br />After each examination has been scored and rated, the names of successful candidates <br />shall be recorded on an eligibility list in the order of their standing on the examination. <br />Eligibility lists shall continue in effect for one (1) year after establishment. They may be <br />extended for a period not to exceed one (1) year or abolished before the expiration of the <br />yearly period by the Personnel Officer upon recommendation of the Fire Chief. The name of <br />any employee on an eligibility list may be removed by the Personnel Officer: if the eligible <br />employee requests in writing that his or her name be removed; if he or she fails to respond <br />to a written offer of employment within five (5) business days after the mailing of notice; if a <br />subsequent report of a character investigation is unsatisfactory; or if he or she has been <br />rejected for appointment three (3) times, by the Fire Chief, <br />Each employee on an eligibility list shall have the right to waive two (2) successive offers of <br />employment without affecting his or her standing on the eligibility list. However, after the <br />third3�offer of employment has been waived, the employee's name shall be removed <br />from the eligibility list. <br />9.3 Promotional Appointment <br />Promotional Appointments shall be made from the eligibility list of candidates who are ready <br />and willing to accept the position offered. <br />9.4 Probationary Period for Promotional Appointments <br />75 <br />
