Staff uses flow
monitoring data to cost effectively quantify RDI/I in the City's wastewater collection system. Analyzing
flow monitoring data helps staff to determine areas of high RDI/I, to calibrate the sanitary sewer
hydraulic model in order to assess the current capacity of existing sanitary sewer lines, and to plan
future upgrades of the sanitary sewer system. The data also informs future Capital Improvement
Projects to reduce sewer treatment costs.
The proposed agreement would assess the depth, velocity and flow rates at the flow monitoring sites,
establish daily average flows and minimum and peak flows for each flow monitoring site, and develop
rainfall data.
11L_
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcitV.org
30
