One change order was issued totaling $40,206. The final
contract amount is $5,713,694 which is 0.71% more than the original bid amount. A change order was
required due to unforeseen field conditions that resulted in additional work requested by the City that
was not within the original scope of work, but was necessary to complete the project.
FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funding for this contract was previously approved and appropriated as Sewer Fund Capital
Projects — Collection System Replacement Program and Water Fund Capital Projects — Distribution
System Replacement Program.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The project was previously determined to be Categorically Exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section
15302, Class 2 (Replacement or reconstruction) at the time of contract award. A Notice of Exemption
was filed with the San Mateo County Recorder on May 26, 2017.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public Notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed at least, 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may choose not to accept the project or not authorize the release of contractor's bonds
and payment retention, however, this would be contrary to the terms of the contract, prior City Council
action, and public contracting code.
ATTACHMENTS
Project Location Map
City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcitV.org
83
