6.G. - Page 1 of 21 <br />/<;i-ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />wended 1967 <br />4W <br />DATE: November 19, 2018 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Resolution Approving Temporary Street Closures for the Hometown Holidays Celebration <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a Resolution designating event routes for the Hometown Holidays Celebration sponsored by the <br />Redwood City Downtown Business Group and approve the temporary street closures as designated in <br />Exhibit "A" and Exhibit "B" for the Hometown Holidays Celebration <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Redwood City Downtown Business Group (DBG) has requested permission to conduct the annual <br />Hometown Holidays Celebration consisting of a festival and parade. <br />The arts and crafts fair and festival will be held from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Live musical entertainment <br />will be held in Courthouse Square from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. The traditional parade will commence at <br />4:30 pm and last until approximately 5:30 pm. The annual tree lighting ceremony at Broadway and <br />Hamilton will take place at 5:45 pm. <br />On December 1, 2018, the parade route and line-up area will be closed from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The <br />arts and crafts fair and festival area will be reserved 5:00 am until 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018. <br />Courthouse Square will be reserved on December 1, 2018, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. <br />The parade will be conducted in the areas detailed on the map (Attachment 2) provided by the DBG in its <br />letter dated October 26, 2018.
