6.G. - Page 1 of 40 <br />/<;i-ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />wended 1967 <br />*A/ <br />DATE: December 03, 2018 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />SUBJECT Amendment Number Two to 2013 Master Services Agreement with Astound Broadband <br />increasing the City's paid internet connection speed <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to Execute Amendment No. 2 to the 2013 Master <br />Services Agreement with Astound Broadband for a term of five years and a total not to exceed amount <br />of $90,000 <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />On September 4, 2013, Astound Broadband (Astound) and the City executed a Master Services <br />Agreement ("MSA") that allows the City to order certain telecommunications, Internet access, data <br />transport, and related services from Astound. The City received from Astound a 100 Megabits per <br />second (Mbps) dedicated internet access circuit at a cost of $1,400 per month, referred to as the "paid" <br />connection, and a 10 Mbps dedicated internet connection at no cost, referred to as the "free" <br />connection. <br />On August 21, 2015, Astound and the City entered into a Conduit Occupancy Agreement, pursuant to <br />which Astound receives from Redwood City the right to use certain utility conduit owned by the City in <br />exchange for the following: (i) upgrading the bandwidth of the "paid" internet access connection from <br />100 Mbps to 300 Mbps; (ii) providing an additional block of 50 IP addresses; (iii) upgrading the <br />bandwidth of the "free" internet access connection from 10Mbps to 110Mbps; and (iv) providing <br />Redwood City unrestricted use of six strands of Astound -supplied fiber within the conduit. <br />On December 9, 2015, Astound and Redwood City entered into Amendment Number One, modifying <br />the 2013 MSA to include the terms agreed to in the Conduit Occupancy Agreement dated August 21, <br />2015. <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcitV.org <br />125 <br />
