Adopt a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an amendment to the employment agreement for <br />the City Manager to provide for adjustment to salary; and <br />2. Adopt a resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an amendment to the employment agreement for <br />the City Attorney to provide for adjustment to salary and awarding a performance bonus. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />Salaries and benefits for the Council -appointed positions, including the City Manager and City Attorney, <br />are reviewed by the City Council on an annual basis, concurrently with the time of the employee's annual <br />performance evaluation. Salary adjustments are made with consideration given to employee <br />performance, total compensation relative to the City's survey market of benchmark cities, and the current <br />financial conditions of the City. <br />City Attorney Veronica Ramirez has been serving as City Attorney since September 6, 2016, and most <br />recently received a salary increase on September 4, 2017. City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz has been <br />serving as City Manager since October 12, 2015, and most recently received a salary increase on October <br />17, 2017. The City Council conducted performance evaluations for the City Attorney and City Manager in <br />October 2018 and November 2018 respectively. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Following the recent performance reviews, the Personnel Subcommittee considered appropriate salary <br />and benefit adjustments for the City Manager and City Attorney, with consideration given to both <br />performance and relative position within the labor market.
