8A Attachme"~e 13 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN 2006 - 2007 COMMUNITY OBJECTIVES & PRIORITY STRATEGIES FY 2005~201 0 The goal of the City of Redwood City is to provide safe and sanitary housing opportunities in suitable locations for all segments of the population. The target group to be assisted under each goal is households with incomes at or below 80% of median income for San Mateo County. The City's 2005-2010 Annual Action Plan demonstrates a relationship between the Consolidated Plan Priorities and activities selected for funding during the first year of the Plan. The major theme of this Consolidated Plan is "Housing production and basic human needs". The proposed activities, to be undertaken with CDBG and HOME funds, reflect the City's strategy to target funds which integrate a continuum of activities ranging from homeless assistance to economic development and permanent housing. All activities proposed to be funded will meet one or more of the City's Consolidated Plan priorities. The City has identified a number of programs that will be delivered under each Priority. The Priority Strategies are: Prioritv Strateav # I - Expansion and preservation of affordable housina - The goal of the City is to increase the affordable housing stock and provide decent. safe, and sanitary housing in adequate supply and at affordability levels for a wide range of residents from low income to poverty level. Priority Strateav # 2 - Provide public service activities that help to reduce poverty, prevent homelessness. and provide intervention proorams that meets basic human needs. and assist special needs populations - The goal of the City is to provide a continuum of services ranging from homeless prevention and homeless services, to supportive housing, intervention programs, and services which respond to basic human needs including food, health, safety, survival, independent living, and self-sufficiency. Prioritv Strateov # 3 - Implement non-housina communitv development activities to provide economic and physical improvements and facilities for social proqrams in low income neiahborhoods - The City's goal is to promote economic and job development activities for low income persons, and facilitate capital improvements that improves the quality of life in low income neighborhoods, and provide a variety of public facilities where anti-poverty and supportive intervention services can be delivered for a range of special needs populations. PROPOSED USE OF FUNDS For 2006-2007: The City of Redwood City will partner with non-profit organizations and County agencies to undertake numerous programs and activities that meet the three identified Priorities of the Consolidated Plan during Fiscal Year 2006 - 2007.
