6.13. - Page 13 of 45 <br />EXHIBIT 6'A-2" <br />PROPOSED AMENDED JOB DESCRIPTION <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION SUPPORT <br />ANALYSTI <br />SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION SUPPORT <br />ANALYST II <br />DEFINITION: <br />To develop and/or support the Redwood City's departmental and enterprise <br />applications, including its financial system, and to promote organizational efficiency <br />through automation. <br />IT, a division of the Administrative Services Department, is divided into two teams; <br />Software Development, and Endpoint and Infrastructure. Software Development <br />primary responsibilities involve writing and supporting software that enables city staff <br />to deliver services more efficiently. Endpoint and Infrastructure is responsible for the <br />infrastructure, desktop, and mobile devices used throughout the City. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: <br />The Software Development and Application Support Analyst I and Software <br />Development and Application Support Analyst 11 job classifications are flexibly staffed. <br />The Software Development and Application Support Analyst 1/11 positions are <br />responsible for the evaluation, development, testing, implementation, and support of <br />new and existing software applications. <br />Software Development and Application Support Analyst I: This entry level <br />Software Development and Application Support Analyst position is filled through the <br />competitive testing process. The full range of duties can be performed in this job class <br />but the incumbent is not expected to function at the same skill level as the higher <br />positions and usually exercise less independent direction and judgment. This position <br />receives more detailed instructions than the higher levels and may require a higher <br />level of supervision and mentoring. <br />Software Development and Application Support Analyst II: This is the mid-level <br />Software Development and Application Support Analyst position. It is filed by <br />appointment when the department head has determined that a Software Development <br />and Application Support Analyst I is fulfilling all of the requirements of the Software <br />Development and Application Support Analyst I at a higher level and with more <br />independence.
