6.13. - Page 25 of 45 EXHIBIT 6'A-4" PROPOSED AMENDED JOB DESCRIPTION CITY OF REDWOOD CITY SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION SUPPORT ANALYST DEFINITION: To develop and/or support the Redwood City's departmental and enterprise applications, including its financial system, and to promote organizational efficiency through automation. IT, a division of the Administrative Services Department, is divided into two teams; Software Development, and Endpoint and Infrastructure. Software Development primary responsibilities involve writing and supporting software that enables city staff to deliver services more efficiently. Endpoint and Infrastructure is responsible for the infrastructure, desktop, and mobile devices used throughout the City. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: The Senior Software Development and Application Support Analyst position is responsible for the evaluation, development, testing, implementation, and support of new and existing software applications. This is the journey level Software Development and Application Support Analyst position and is filled through the competitive testing process. The full range of duties can be performed in this job class. The incumbent is expected to function at a higher skill level than the other analysts with a high degree of independence and judgment. The incumbent is expected to be able to train other analysts as well as lead complex technology projects including but not limited to assigning tasks to other Analysts working on the project, as well as recommending and implementing solutions. This senior position can serve as the acting Supervising IT Analyst of the Software Development team within IT. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Immediate supervision is provided by the Supervising IT Analyst. Responsibilities may include supervision of Software Development and Application Support Analyst I or II for specific tasks or projects, or be assigned supervisory duties when acting as the Supervising IT Analyst of the Software Development team.
