6.D. - Page 1 of 6
/<ik
Redwood
CitylCallifornia
Faunded 1867
Ago/
DATE: December 10, 2018
SUBJECT
STAFF REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
Amendment No. 1 to Municipality Service Agreement for Permit Data Visualization Application with
Buildingeye Inc.
RECOMMENDATION
By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to the Municipality
Service Agreement with Buildingeye Inc. in the amount of $70,000 (for a total of $115,500) for annual
technical and maintenance support for permit data visualization
STRATEGIC INITIATIVE
Government Operations
BACKGROUND
On July 28, 2015, the City Manager approved an agreement with Buildingeye Inc. (Buildingeye) for their
data visualization application. The application, "buildingeye", provides the public the ability to view data
on a map related to building, planning, and construction permits. For example, a resident can find an
active building permit in their neighborhood, as well as basic project details. Additionally, "buildingeye"
allows individuals to elect to receive email notification alerts of new permits for an area of interest.
ANALYSIS
The scope of work for the original agreement was in an amount below $60,000 and within the spending
authority of the City Manager. The City is now in the third year of that agreement, and anticipate that the
total cost will exceed the City Manager's authority for approval by the end of the fiscal year. Staff is seeking
the City Council's authority to approve a contract amendment to increase the contract amount.
