9.A. - Page 1 of 10 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />\%,a/ <br />DATE: December 17, 2018 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Proposed Historic Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC) Work Plan for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-2019 and <br />FY 2019-2020. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Review, discuss, and approve by motion, the HRAC Work Plan for FY 2018-2019 and FY 2019-2020. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The HRAC is composed of five community members appointed by the Planning Commission to three- <br />year terms. The Committee advises the Planning Commission on various historic preservation matters <br />including recommendations for historic designation of local properties and districts and design review of <br />changes to historic buildings and adjacent affected sites. The Committee also is involved in other <br />historic preservation -related activities. The HRAC makes recommendations to the Planning Commission, <br />as called for in the City's Historic Preservation Ordinance and other City Council adopted precise plans, <br />where applicable. <br />Earlier this year, the City Clerk, with approval by the Mayor, advised each City Board, Committee, and <br />Commission (BCC) to prepare a two-year work plan, beginning with FY 2018-2019, for City Council <br />review and approval. The purpose of the work plan is to align BCC work with the City Council's <br />Strategic Initiatives. Work plans are to be prepared by the BCC members and presented to the City <br />Council by the BCC Chair and Vice Chair. <br />The HRAC held a retreat on April 21, 2018 and a follow-up retreat on June 30, 2018 to develop a draft <br />work plan and mission statement.
