8.A. - Page 13 of 15 UNSCHEDULED SERVICES Unscheduled Services include miscellaneous services that are above and beyond routine garbage collection, such as backyard collection, key service, or additional carts. The proposed 2.07% increase in the rates for unscheduled solid waste services is based on the one year change in the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Consumer Price Index, U.S. city average for all urban consumers. The City's proposed unscheduled services rates are calculated to recover the costs of providing unscheduled solid waste services, which are provided by Recology San Mateo County under contract with the City. RESIDENTIAL (PROPOSED FOR UNSCHEDULED SERVICES RATES) The services offered and the recommended rates are listed below. • Return Trip Cost $17.14 (per collection event) for collection service provided after the regularly scheduled collection day. • Additional Targeted Recyclable Materials or Organic Materials Cart Rental or Purchase - Rental $3.43 per month, Purchase 64 gallon cart $71.97, Purchase 96 gallon cart $78.83. • Fee to Collect Contaminated Targeted Recyclable Materials or Organic Materials Container - 25% of the base monthly rate for the size of the container collected once per week plus $17.14 (per collection event). • Key Service - $9.71 per collection event, Lock Purchase $19.42 (one time per account). • Overage Fee -100% of the base monthly rate per collection event • Overage Bag Cost - 50% of the base monthly rate or a minimum of $9.13 (whichever is greater) - per bag. • Container Cleaning - $57.13 per cart, $97.11 per Bin or Drop Box. • Dirty Cart Replacement - $74.25 per 32 gallon cart, $85.68 per 64 gallon cart, $97.11 per 96 gallon cart. • On -Call Bulky Item Collection - $93.17 for each collection after the first two per year.
