Waive Second Reading and Adopt an Ordinance Regarding the Publication of Ordinances; 2. Waive Second Reading and Adopt an Ordinance Regarding the Publication of a Notice of Public Hearing on the Budget. STRATEGIC INITIATIVE Government Operations BACKGROUND On November 6, 2018, a general election was held in the City and a measure was submitted to the voters amending the City Charter to update certain provisions, including publication procedures. On December 6, 2018, the San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer certified the results of the election, including the passage of the proposed City Charter amendments. On December 10, 2018 the City Council adopted Resolution No. 15723 reciting the facts and declaring the results of the November 6, 2018 general election, including the passage of the proposed City Charter amendments. On December 21, 2018, the City Clerk submitted a certified copy of the City Charter amendments to the San Mateo County Recorder's office, where they were duly recorded. On that same date, the City Clerk submitted a certified copy of the City Charter amendments to the California Secretary of State. On January 10, 2019, the City Clerk received acknowledgment from the California Secretary of State that the certified copy of the City Charter amendments were received, filed, and assigned Charter Chapter Number 21 for publication in the Statutes of 2018.
