6.A. - Page 1 of 17 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />\:3aAW <br />DATE: February 11, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Professional Services Agreement with 41-eaf, Inc. for Construction Management Services for the Rule <br />20A Middlefield Road Phase 1 Underground Utility District Project, which will remove and relocate <br />underground all of the overhead utility lines on Middlefield Road between Main Street and Woodside <br />Road <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreement for construction <br />management consulting services with 41-eaf, Inc. for the Rule 20A Middlefield Road Phase 1 <br />Underground Utility District Project in the amount of $249,832. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />On February 6, 2012, the City Council adopted an Ordinance (No. 2376) forming the Middlefield Road <br />Underground Utility District (MUUD) to provide for the removal and underground relocation <br />(undergrounding) of existing overhead electric and telecommunication utility lines on Middlefield Road <br />between Main Street and MacArthur Avenue, in accordance with Pacific Gas and Electric Company's <br />Rule 20A Program. On September 9, 2013, the City Council adopted an Ordinance (No. 2397) to amend <br />the MUUD boundaries and extend the removal date for overhead facilities by one year. The City Council <br />awarded the construction contract on July 23, 2018 to Seton Pacific Construction Corporation. <br />The purpose of the undergrounding is to increase the safety, aesthetics, and walkability of the corridor. <br />This project (Phase 1) will underground all of the overhead utility lines on Middlefield Road between <br />Main Street and Woodside Road, and will include portions of the side streets within the project limits. <br />The project will construct all the underground facilities (duct structures, manholes, vaults, junction <br />boxes, etc.) necessary for the relocation of the overhead lines by the participating utility companies. <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.ore <br />6 <br />
