The proposal also assumes that. other than a limited number of paper prints for our internal team meetings, our submittals will be in digital fonnat for printing by you. Any submittals, revisions, meetings, printings, or presentations not described above will be an additional service to be authorized by you in advance. Any substantial modification to the schedule may also impact our compensation, to be negotiated with you as necessary. As you also know, we spoke before I left for sabbatical about the effort we expended to prepare for presentation to City Council in September. We agreed that it was in everyone's interest to do a good job, and that it required adequate resources. Our original proposal prepared in Fall 2004 (attached for ready reference) outlined two meetings with staff, one public hearing (to the ARC) and three submittals. The total fee was $29.000 and included VKK Signmakers as subconsultants to us. The fee assumed a focused time period. with work to be completed over a three month period. As we worked with you and Susan Moeller to find a satisfactory design, the effort stretched from January to September, over more than nine months. It required at least ten staff meetings, introduction of Cork Marcheschi to the project and coordination with him, an unanticipated public meeting, a rehearsal for and presentation to City Council. We made more than six submittals of work products. In September as we were striving to meet the demands of the City Council preparation. I asked you for compensation for this unanticipated additional effort.
