7.A. - Page 14 of 36 Attachment B - Most Recent Community Feedback
From: Jordi Perez
To: GRP -District Elections
Subject: feedback on 5 selected maps
Date: Saturday, February 16, 2019 10:13:03 PM
Hi,
I was looking at the 5 selected maps for drawing districts.
Maps 7-007 and 7-013 include the area where I live (Madison between Sapphire and Quartz)
together with all the hillside areas. If any of these were to be selected, our area (between
Valota and Alameda) would basically have no voice, because we would be a minority in our
district respect to the hillside areas. In addition to being geographically different (Alameda is
quite a divide, flat vs hill, etc.), there is a significant socioeconomic gap, different school
needs and different overall needs as an example, (up in the hills people drive in and out of
their areas, wheres in our area people can and do leave their lives in the neighborhood -shop,
schools, community center, etc.).
The two maps from the consulting demographer are much better, for example the district
borders tend to run more parallel to ECR and Alameda.
I appreciate the effort from the citizens who did the maps, but my hope is that we stick with
the work of a professional that knows more about the topic, and is likely to be less biassed.
Best regards,
Jordi Perez Mariano
1827 Madison Av
127
