6.G. - Page 1 of 17 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: February 25, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Resolution approving a temporary street closure of Seaport Boulevard on March 2 and 3, 2019 for the <br />Stanford University Triathlon Team's 15th annual "Treeathlon" event <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Adopt a Resolution designating the event route for the 15th annual "Treeathlon" event sponsored by the <br />Stanford University Triathlon Team, approve the temporary partial closure of Seaport Boulevard as <br />designated in Exhibit "A", and find that the project is exempt from California Environmental Quality Act <br />(CEQA) under CEQA Guidelines Section 15304 (Minor Alterations to Land) and Section 15311 (Accessory <br />Structures). <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Stanford University Triathlon Team has held the "Treeathlon" event in Redwood City for the past 14 <br />years. If approved, the event will occur on March 2 and 3, 2019. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The Stanford Triathlon Team is run entirely by team members, mostly students, and brings professional <br />training to anybody in the Stanford community regardless of age or skill level. The "Treeathlon" event is <br />a fundraiser for the team's trip to the National Collegiate Championships in Tempe, Arizona. It is also an <br />important part of the California collegiate triathlon circuit, as well as a great venue for local and regional <br />amateur/age group athletes.
