B. Mezesville Historic District proposal <br />Principal Planner Jany explained the proposal utilizing a PowerPoint <br />presentation (on file). <br />Mayor Pierce opened the public hearing. <br />Public Comment: <br />Stacy Schneider voiced her favor toward the historic district <br />recommendation. <br />Laura Stewart stated that it was an interesting process explaining that the <br />area is so special because it embraces the past beginning in 1894 <br />representing the working class men and women. <br />Nelson Andrade stated that he was amazed with the research and felt it <br />was a very strong community and asset. <br />Kimberly Andrade stated that the area is a very previous neighborhood and <br />that her hope is that it be deemed historical. <br />Peggy Bruggmann stated her wish that the area be deemed historical and <br />that it would compliment the downtown. <br />Gwenythe Scove supported the approval stating that the area is well worth <br />protecting. <br />M/S Foust/Ira to: <br />Designate the area described below as the Mezesville Historic District: <br />• Approve the March 21, 2006 recommendation of the Planning <br />Commission in whole and designate the subject area as an historic <br />district, per the Redwood City Historic Preservation Ordinance. <br />• Adopt the findings in conformance with section 40.6 of the Historic <br />Preservation Ordinance.
