B. Signage Around Uncontrolled Intersections
Council Member Bain, Traffic Ad Hoc Committee Member made the presentation
(PowerPoint presentation on file) stating that he sent out 20 letters to residents
and received three responses including an e-mail letter that was just provided to
Council. He further stated that he and Council Member Aguirre had discussed the
various traffic related issues and that this is one of those.
Council Members asked various questions related to whether data had been
received from Police and Fire, if unintended consequences might arise due to
policy creation, and whether increased liability might occur if a higher standard is
set. Council comments included applaud for making the recommendations,
concern with a sense of false security being created and the request for sufficient
data and community input.
Council Member Bain stated that the proposal was designed to set a higher
standard and be proactive. Council consensus was to request staff to report back
with information on State Code differences, liability issues and input from
Engineering, Police and Fire departments. (702)
10.
