6.C. - Page 1 of 121 <br />/<�ik <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />Faunded 1867 <br />A,&/ <br />DATE: March 11, 2019 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />General Services Agreement with Bay Area Paving Co., Inc. to repair sidewalks and utility trenches, and <br />install Americans with Disabilities Act -compliant sidewalk ramps <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a one-year general services agreement <br />with Bay Area Paving Co., Inc. in an amount not to exceed $750,000 for concrete/asphalt repairs, including <br />City Manager authority to extend the agreement for up to two consecutive two-year terms, for a total not <br />to exceed contract price of $3,886,350, and find that the project is exempt from the California <br />Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under CEQA Guidelines Sections 15301 (Existing Facilities), 15302 <br />(Replacement or Reconstruction), and 15304 (Minor Alterations to Land). <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Public Works Services Department (PWS) maintains City -owned sidewalks, curbs and gutters, streets <br />and the underground utility infrastructure. It is important for PWS to be responsible for maintaining and <br />repairing the public right-of-way in a manner that is safe, beneficial, timely and economical. Both internal <br />staff and external contractors complete this work, which allows PWS to leverage financial and staff <br />resources more effectively to respond to more sites.
