I've read that districting is needed to allow better
representation that reflects the diversity of RWC than can be achieved through "at large" council members. Redwood
Shores should be a single district. This is needed to fulfill the purpose of the districting initiative. Redwood Shores
fulfills all the attributes of a "district."
I see many versions of the districting maps online. While refinements may still be needed for other areas of Redwood
City, It's obvious, by any measure, Redwood Shores should be its own district.
Combining Redwood Shores with another geographic area violates the tenets of: compactness, contiguity, preservation
of community interest, and avoids favoring an incumbent.
Liane Redford.
