6.C. - Page 23 of 121 <br />ATTACHMENT A — Scope of Work <br />The Work of this project will consist of removal and replacement of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, <br />asphalt pavement, removal of concrete and installation of ADA -compliant curb ramps (ADA ramps), <br />utility trench/street repair and similar work. The work occurs sporadically throughout the year, not all at <br />one time, on various streets throughout the City. The work includes all labor, materials, equipment, <br />traffic control and apparatus not specifically mentioned, but which are necessary to complete the work. <br />Contractor shall have daily communication with the project manager. Contractor shall complete work <br />given within 21 days workdays of assignment. <br />Contractor shall comply with City's Engineering Standards: Volumes 1, 2 and 3. Contractor shall also comply with city/county standards of the jurisdiction <br />where work is done. <br />WORK SHALL INCLUDE THE ITEMS LISTED BELOW: <br />1. Demolition of existing sidewalks, asphalt, curbs/gutters, and ADA ramps <br />a. Work shall include the sawcutting, removal and disposal of the particular <br />concrete/asphalt item specified, and shall include the base and all its appurtenances to <br />the appropriate depth below finished grade for the thickness of the concrete item, plus <br />four inches thick baserock. Concrete removal shall include any thickness of concrete <br />encountered during excavation. Sites may require greater or lesser excavation and <br />greater tree root removal, if the existing grade has been raised above or settled below <br />final grade. Where sidewalks or curb and gutter are relocated for ADA ramp installation, <br />additional excavation may be required. Where root pruning is required, the sidewalk <br />shall be removed and excavation shall not occur until after root cutting is performed. <br />b. Concrete removal shall be done in a manner to avoid chipping and breakage of <br />remaining concrete at the conform line. Temporary asphalt ramps or patches on <br />concrete adjacent to repairs shall be removed to the original concrete surface. If <br />concrete is chipped, the existing sidewalk shall either be re-sawcut adjacent to the chip <br />or at the nearest score line at the decision of the Project manager. Additional concrete <br />repairs necessary due to chipping caused by the Contractor shall be made at the <br />Contractor's expense. <br />c. The Contractor shall be responsible for pruning any roots or branches from City Street <br />trees only at the direction of the Public Works Tree Supervisor or designee. Tree roots <br />shall be removed only as directed by the project manager. Tree roots shall be exposed <br />without damage to roots to allow inspection by the City.
