Roots shall be cut using hand <br />tools, chain saws or stump grinder at the direction of the City. <br />d. Contractor is responsible for repairing/replacing existing drain line and irrigation <br />systems that are damaged during demolition or construction. <br />e. All utility trenches are to be TEE Trenched as per City Engineering Standards <br />2. Replacement/installation of sidewalks, asphalt, curbs/gutters, and ADA ramps <br />a. Removal of concrete curb and gutter work shall include the sawcutting, removal and <br />disposal of the particular item specified, and shall include the base, and all its <br />appurtenances to the appropriate depth below finished grade for the thickness of the <br />concrete item, plus four inches thick baserock. Sites may require greater or lesser <br />excavation and greater tree root removal by Contractor if the existing grade has been <br />raised above or settled below final grade. <br />b. Sawcutting shall be made: <br />§ At the end of the sidewalk, curb and gutter, and wheelchair ramp construction <br />§ At the nearest score line on sidewalks <br />§ At the outside edge of the border on wheelchair ramps <br />§ To the full depth of the concrete to insure clean separation of concrete and no <br />resultant spalling. <br />c. Work shall include all grading, the appropriate width and 4" depth of Class 2 aggregate <br />base, subgrade compaction, base compaction, expansion joint material, dowels, slip <br />dowels, forming, concrete pouring, scoring, finishing, form stripping, removal of <br />concrete pour -over, and topsoil backfill. Sidewalks may be relocated as designated by <br />the Project manager. <br />d. Contractor is responsible to check and monitor all concrete pours for graffiti or damage. <br />Sidewalk finish that contains graffiti or damage will not be accepted as complete. <br />e. Work shall include the sawcutting, removal and disposal of the particular concrete item <br />specified, and shall include the base and all its appurtenances to the appropriate depth <br />below finished grade for the thickness of the concrete item, plus four inches thick <br />baserock. Concrete removal shall include any thickness of concrete encountered during <br />excavation. Sites may require greater or lesser excavation and greater tree root removal <br />if the existing grade has been raised above or settled below final grade. Where <br />sidewalks or curb and gutter are relocated for ADA ramp installation, additional <br />excavation may be required. Where root pruning is required, the sidewalk shall be <br />removed and excavation shall not occur until after root cutting is performed. Contractor <br />is responsible for the repair of existing irrigation systems. <br />f. Measurements: Sidewalks shall be measured and paid to the nearest square foot <br />excusive of the curb and gutter.
