(303) MINUTE ORDER 06 -98 <br />5.1 Section — Motions — (continued) <br />D. 2005 -2006 Cost Shared Sidewalk Repair Project <br />Council Member Howard had questions related to this project that could not be <br />answered at the time. (304) <br />M/S Howard /Foust to continue this item. The motion passed by a unanimous <br />voice vote. MINUTE ORDER 06 -99 <br />6. PRESENTATIONS: <br />A. Update on Downtown Parking Promotion Campaign <br />Project Manager Zack provided an update on some items occurring in downtown <br />Redwood City stating that it is a state of transition while implementing a new plan <br />that took effect on May 1, 2006. He continued with his summary stating that <br />education to the public is being worked on through Godbe Communications to <br />create a marketing, promotional and educational campaign that will involve direct <br />mailers, newspaper advertisements, full color brochures available with all the <br />garages and local merchants, we well as the website. Staff is developing <br />newsletters that to help people understand the incremental changes. <br />Council Members emphasized the importance that the campaign with Godbe is as <br />complete as possible with information out to service clubs, schools, churches and <br />neighborhood newsletters. A concern was expressed about the parking lot on the <br />east side of the railroad tracks behind Sequoia Station where the median creates a <br />narrow entrance that should be altered a bit. Placement of the informational <br />brochures was suggested to be placed in kiosks and that the text be bulleted, easy <br />to read and translated. <br />Public Comment: <br />Catherine Stuart asked that while looking at the new stores and movie theatres is <br />the area is there a budget for security with Police.
