7. STAFF REPORTS <br />A. Redwood City 2020 — Youth Outcomes After - School Program Evaluation <br />Parks, Recreation & Community Services Superintendent Beth and Redwood City <br />2020 Executive Director Shah provided Council with an update on efforts to <br />support improved academic, social and life skills for economically disadvantaged <br />students through After School Programming. <br />Council thanked staff and acknowledged the partnerships that have focused on <br />academic success and the priority of youth and education. <br />Recommendation: <br />No action required. (1004) <br />B. El Camino Real Community Mobility Improvement Study: Workshop #3 <br />Redevelopment, Housing & Economic Development Manager Moeller introduced <br />Economic Development Specialist Young who explained the project. Terry <br />Bottomley, Bottomley and Associates, explained the background, conditions and <br />design recommendations. <br />Council discussion ensued with questions regarding signalization for pedestrian <br />crossing of El Camino Real, whether the current bus stop on Brewster and El <br />Camino Real on the west side of the street might be moved to ensure a clear <br />intersection, various signage suggestions were mentioned, and questions about <br />the MTC approval process was asked. Comments included that if a grant is <br />obtained that the Architectural Review Committee might be best suited to be <br />involved at the design level. <br />M/S Bain /Howard to: <br />1. Approve concepts for capital improvements to El Camino Real; and involve <br />the Architectural Review Committee in the review of the design. <br />2. Direct staff to submit an application to the Metropolitan Transportation <br />Commission for capital grant funds to implement the preferred design <br />concept(s). <br />The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote by those present.
