Park and Recreation Commission Page 3 <br />Minutes of April 26, 2006 <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser thanked the consultants for their presentation. Director <br />Centeno announced she will be making a presentation about the PDO at the <br />Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee meeting on May <br />2. She reminded the Commissioners they will be taking action on the <br />proposed PDO at their May meeting and a draft ordinance will be presented. <br />If the recommendation is approved, the next step will be for the item to go <br />to the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />The Commissioners took a short break at 8:37pm and the meeting was called <br />back to order at 8:45pm. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 – SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />th <br />-4 of July Parade <br />Vice Chairperson White and Commissioners Joseph and Swope met today <br />th <br />regarding the Commission’s entry in the 4 of July Parade. Commissioner <br />Swope agreed to prepare the entry form. <br /> <br />-Art & Wine Festival <br />Commissioner Joseph asked that this item be moved to the May agenda. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - UPDATES <br />-Park Rules <br />Director Centeno announced the rules are being reviewed by the Police <br />Department and will be brought back to the Commission after this review. <br /> <br />-Pet Parade <br />Commissioner Joseph and Superintendent Beth gave an update on the <br />planned events for the Pet Parade. The Parade will begin at 12noon and <br />volunteers will be needed beginning at 10:00am. <br /> <br />-Parks for the Future <br />Nothing to report. <br /> <br />-Neighborhood Garden <br />Superintendent Beth reported the Youth and Teen Advisory Boards along <br />with other community members participated on Earth Day on April 22 at the <br />gardens behind the NFL Alumni building. Eight planting beds were created <br />by using donated supplies from Lyngso and support from our Landscape <br />Division staff. <br /> <br />-Downtown Square <br />The Downtown Square is scheduled to be completed by October 1. <br /> <br />
