At the request of the City, the employee shall furnish a death <br />certificate and proof of relationship. <br />Funeral leave applies only in instances in which the employee attends the <br />funeral, or is required to make funeral arrangements, but is not applicable for <br />other purposes such as settling the estate of the decreased. <br />18.12 Leave for Union Business <br />Any employee who shall hereafter be elected or officially appointed to a full- <br />time paid position in the Union, which position requires absence from the City's <br />service, shall be granted an unpaid leave of absence therefor, and upon <br />retirement from such position, shall be reinstated; provided, however, that such <br />leave of absence shall not extend beyond the term of this MOU, unless <br />extended by mutual consent. <br />All IAFF members will contribute two (2) hours of accumulated vacation leave <br />per year, beginning with first pay date in January, for use by their union <br />president, or his/her designee, for union business leave. <br />18.13 Absence Without Leave <br />Failure on the part of an employee to report for duty or notify the designated <br />management official prior to the employee's scheduled starting time as to a <br />reason why the employee cannot report to .,vcrk may subject the employee to <br />disciplinary action by the City. <br />18.14 Family and Medical Leave Act <br />Employees are entitled to leave in accordance with the California Family Rights <br />Act of 1991 the Family Medical Leave Act 1993 and City Policy in effect as of <br />the date of this agreement, and as subsequently amended subject to notice to <br />the Association and the opportunity to meet and confer where required by law. <br />57 <br />311 <br />
